ShelfieBooks ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ShelfieBooks mobile application.

We collect the following information when you use ShelfieBooks:

Account information: Your email address and name, provided when you sign up or sign in via Google or Apple.
Library data: Books you save to your library, including their status (want to read, reading, finished, did not finish), notes, and your preferred sort order.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the ShelfieBooks service
Sync your library across your devices
Respond to support requests

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Supabase — database and authentication hosting
Google Sign-In — optional sign-in method
Apple Sign-In — optional sign-in method
Google Books API — used to search for book information. Your search terms are sent to Google to return results; no account information is shared with this service.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to any third parties. We do not display advertising. Your data is shared only with the third-party services listed above, to the extent necessary to operate the app.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely via Supabase, hosted on infrastructure that complies with industry-standard security practices. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using iOS Secure Enclave (SecureStore).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, via Settings → Delete Account

7. Children's Privacy

ShelfieBooks is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of ShelfieBooks after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Applicable Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Users in the United Kingdom and European Union also have rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR respectively.
